Why Fouled Loft Insulation Needs Removing
When rats or mice get into a loft, they leave droppings and urine on the boards and in the insulation between the joists. Birds and squirrels do similar damage in roof spaces. The insulation itself is often torn, compressed or soiled, and the loft can start to smell.
On the jobs we see, droppings collect on loft boards and in the gaps beside the insulation, and fouled material has to come out before the space is clean again. Leaving contaminated loft insulation in place keeps that mess above the rooms you live or work in.
The photo shows contamination in a loft before clearance.
At RS Pest Control, loft insulation clearance is a clear-and-clean job. We take out what has been contaminated and tidy the loft afterwards. You then decide whether you want new insulation put back. To talk through what you’ve found, please fill in our form above or get in touch.
